Police to grill human rights activist over defamation

akarta Police detectives will question human rights activist, Usman Hamid, on Tuesday afternoon for alleged defamation filed by former Deputy Chief of State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Muchdi Purwopranjono .
 
"Yes, I will come to the Jakarta Police Headquarters today at 3 p.m.," Usman, coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras), told The Jakarta Post.
 
Muchdi sued Usman for accusing him in public of orchestrating the murder of Kontras founder Munir Said Thalib in September 2004.
 
Munir was found dead aboard a Garuda flight to Amsterdam. A Garuda pilot and a former Garuda president director were convicted in the case, but the mastermind has not been identified yet.
 
A lower court found  Muchdi not guilty of masterminding the murder on Dec. 31, 2008.
