Artists to Join Anti-corruption Campaigning on Sunday

TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The community of Love Indonesia Love the KPK (Cicak) will hold an anti-corruption campaign at the Hotel Indonesia roundabout in Jakarta, on Sunday morning starting at around 7am.

According to the communications manager of Transparency International, Soraya Aiman, the campaign is in response to the slow investigation into the case of an alleged plot to weaken the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

“This is not a demonstration but a campaign,” she said yesterday.

Soraya is predicting that more than one thousand people will join the campaign located in the area around Thamrin and Sudirman streets that will be free from motor vehicles on Sunday morning.

Those supporting the Cicak movement, including the Indonesian Corruption Watch (ICW), Kontras and university students, will come to the event.

It is scheduled that during the campaigning, the Slank musical group will perform songs of social criticism, as well as Fariz R.M, Netral, Oppie Andaresta, Melly Goeslw, Once Dewa, Erwin and Gita Gutawa.

“They will ask people to sing and do morning physical exercises together,” said Soraya.
