Wiranto Elected As Coordinator Minister Of Politics Law And Security:
New Order Era Old Stock, Indonesia Proved To Be Retailer State!

KontraS strongly protesting the election of Wiranto in the recent cabinet reshuffle, former National Military Forces (ABRI) Commander in the New Order Era which also he also still become the Chairman of People’s Conscience (Hati Nurani Rakyat – Hanura) political party, he was elected as Coordinator Minister of Politics, Law and Security (Menkopolhukam) which recently announced in front of Presidential Palace on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. The statement of President Joko Widodo in 2014 that stated the figure of political party chairman could not concurrent position to become minister, it should be a simple filter as a prove that Wiranto could not become as a minister.

Nevertheless, the spirit and argumentation on human rights, we want to state our opinion to the election of Wiranto which acknowledge widely amongst the names that should be responsible of several human rights violations practices as mentioned in several National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) report; such as the attack of July 27 Trisakti Incident, May 1998, Semanggi 1 & 2, abduction and enforced disappearance of pro-democracy activists 1997/1998, Bloody Biak, and one of the most important things is while his names mentioned several times in a thick report of 92 pages issued by United Nations under the mandate of Serious Crime Unit, statet that, “Wiranto has failed to take responsibility of his position as the highest commander from all the power of national military and police in Timor Leste to prevent crimes against humanity and the failure of Wiranto in punishing the perpetrators.” This clear statement also made difficulties for Wiranto to enter the international jurisdiction, one of them is to enter United States (US Visa Watch List) in 2003.

Today, where it is the same time as the 20 years commemoration of July 27 Incident, acknowledge that Wiranto has the strategic position after the attack of Indonesian Democratic Party (Partai Demokrasi Indonesia – PDI). He was had a promotion as the Army Chief of Staff with 4-stars General rank. The luckiness in the security situation and political regime always give a movement space for Wiranto to take decision that ended up in impunity scheme.

With several official notes, KontraS directly ask President Joko Widodo and Minister of State Secretariat: Where is the professionality, concrete, preceived by public, already tested to be capable if you whether forcely or voluntary chose name Wiranto as the top of strategic ministry of Work Cabinet today? Solidarity will not build above the vulnerable figures which will responsible of their actions in time along while they still on the important position in this Republic. Retailer concept tend to be stronger. It could be seen solid and elite.

KontraS also wants to ask public support to build solidarity towards the victims and victims’ family of human rights violations to keep on spirit, build strategies and tactics of justice, that the state should and keep responsible bring and stand on justice, give remedies to them that the rights were revoked, had a stigma and make sure the the individuals of human rights violators will be punish according to legal norms in Republic of Indonesia.
